Srinagar | : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Kulgam and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police party of Police Station Kulgam at a checkpoint established at Arreh, Kulgam intercepted a motorcycle bearing registration No JK05B-4138 driven by one Waseem Ahmad Dar S/o Habibullah Dar R/o Shadab Krewah, Shopian and during search, Poppy Straw like substance weighing 5.6 Kgs filled in a bag was recovered from his possession following which the said accused was arrested besides which thevehicle used in commission of crime was also seized. Police in its statement furthermore said that a case under FIR No. 72/2025 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Kulgam besides initiating further investigations
In the concluding para of its above quoted police appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society, reiterating therein its commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
