Shopian |:  An awareness programme under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) programme was organised Tuesday by Sankalp Hub for Empowerment of Women, Mission Shakti, Shopian at Hermain Block, Shopian.

The programme began with an opening address by District Mission Coordinator, Sankalp Hub who sensitized the audience about the critical importance of educating the girl child and empowering her in every sphere of life. She underlined how investing in girls’ education and well-being not only uplifts families but lays the foundation for a strong and progressive society.

Adding further value to the programme, Gender Specialist, Sankalp Hub conducted an informative session where she briefed participants about various government welfare schemes specifically meant for women and girls. She explained the eligibility criteria, required documentation and shared important helpline numbers, ensuring the attendees were better equipped to access these entitlements and assist others in doing the same.

The event witnessed enthusiastic involvement from ASHA workers, Anganwadi workers, and community members, reflecting strong grassroots participation and a shared commitment to gender equity.

The programme concluded with a pledge ceremony, where the community reaffirmed its dedication to protect girls from all forms of injustice and to ensure they are given every opportunity to lead safe, dignified, and fulfilling lives.
