SHEW Shopian organises awareness camp at Chitragam

Shopian : Awareness programme under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao was organized Friday by Sankalp Hub for Empowerment of Women (SHEW), Mission Shakti Shopian at Chitragam under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative.
The programme commenced with an address by the District Mission Coordinator, Sankalp Hub, who sensitized the gathering about the crucial need for educating the girl child and ensuring her empowerment in all spheres of life.
Highlighting the socio-economic benefits of girls’ education, coordinator emphasized how an empowered girl becomes the foundation of a strong and progressive society.
Gender Specialist delivered a powerful and thought-provoking talk on gender inequality, its historical roots, and its present-day implications. She stressed the urgent need for collective community efforts to break the cycle of discrimination and to create an enabling environment where girls are celebrated, educated, and empowered.
As part of the outreach and mobilization activities, the programme featured a pledge ceremony, where all participants took an oath to uphold the rights and dignity of the girl child and to work collectively for gender justice. This was followed by a BBBP awareness rally across Chitragam, with participants holding placards and raising slogans in support of girls’ rights and equal opportunities.
To further strengthen the visibility of the campaign, BBBP stickers were pasted at prominent public locations, including community halls, market areas, and educational institutions, carrying strong messages about saving and educating the girl child.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from ASHA workers, NRLM Self Help Group (SHG) members, the Panchayat Secretary, and numerous local residents.
