DC chairs Meeting to Review Implementation of PMJVK Projects in Minority Concentration Areas of Distt

Budgam : In order to accelerate pace of development in minority-concentrated areas of the district, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-ud-Din Bhat, Thursday chaired a detailed review meeting to discuss the implementation of projects under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK) in District Budgam.
The meeting focused on identifying key gaps and prioritizing project proposals in sectors including education, health, skill development, and other critical infrastructure.
DC emphasised on ensuring targeted development in areas with a substantial minority population, in accordance with the guidelines of the centrally sponsored scheme.
He stressed that 80% of PMJVK resources must be utilized for education, health, and skill development, with 33–40% of projects exclusively benefiting women and girls.
DC emphasized the need for projects such as the construction of school buildings, residential hostels, degree colleges, health centers, working women hostels, Anganwadi centers, and facilities for safe drinking water and sanitation.
He instructed concerned departments to formulate proposals in alignment with the revised PMJVK guidelines and ensure timely submission for approval.
He directed the departments to prioritize women empowerment projects, including girls’ hostels and skill development centres dedicated to female beneficiaries.
Further, he underlined that projects must be taken up within a 15 km catchment area having at least 25% minority population, as stipulated under the scheme.
Bhat called for enhanced inter-departmental coordination for comprehensive planning and monitoring of ongoing and upcoming projects.
The meeting was attended by CPO Budgam,District Programme officer ICDS Budgam, ACD budgam, CEO, CMO, Principals of all degree collages, District Ayush Officer, DSWO, DYSSO budgam and representatives from various line departments and implementing agencies.
The Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK) is a centrally sponsored scheme , which aims to bridge development deficits in minority-concentrated areas through focused, need-based interventions, ensuring inclusive growth and social justice.
