Dr Abdullah Hails contribution of AIR Station in promoting Kashmir’s culture & heritage
Srinagar: Dr. Farooq Abdullah, President Jammu and Kashmir National Conference on Wednesday extended warm greetings to All India Radio Srinagar on its foundation day. He expressed hope that the station will continue to play a crucial role in promoting and preserving the cultural and linguistic heritage of Jammu and Kashmir.
Reflecting on the station’s origins, Dr. Farooq noted that it was established by his father, Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah, with its inaugural broadcast featuring a recitation from the Holy Quran by Begum Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah. He highlighted the station’s significant contributions as a platform for entertainment and for addressing the concerns of the Kashmiri people, stating that AIR Srinagar has been instrumental in shaping the cultural consciousness of society through its impact on literature, music, and public awareness. Dr. Farooq expressed confidence in the station’s ability to remain a voice for the people and a beacon of Kashmir’s artistic expression. He emphasized the importance of enhancing the quality and variety of entertainment content to better align with the evolving tastes and expectations of its diverse audience.
