DC Pulwama conducts field visit to assess status of water supply schemes

Pulwama: In order to take stock of progress of key infrastructural works under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) and NABARD, District Development Commissioner (DDC) Pulwama, Dr. Basharat Qayoom, Wednesday undertook a detailed field visit to multiple ongoing Water Supply Schemes (WSS) in the district.
The visit was aimed at obtaining comprehensive ground-level assessment of the execution status, identifying operational bottlenecks, and issuing necessary instructions to expedite completion of the works.
The DDC inspected various water supply schemes like NC Bonura, Arihal Arigam, Achal Astan (Petipora), Batnoor Sahoora, Lajoora, and Kerava Malangpora.
During the visit, Dr. Qayoom took strong note of the issues like halted electro-mechanical (EM) works. He directed the concerned officials to resolve minor issues in a time-bound manner. He stressed upon the need for speedy completion of Electro-Mechanicial installations and asked the engineering staff to expedite the process of completion.
The DDC also visited WSS Ratnipora, a major water supply scheme being executed under NABARD funding, which is at the final stage of completion. He directed officials to complete final formalities and ensure that the scheme is commissioned at the earliest for the benefit local population.
The DDC reiterated that universal access to safe and adequate drinking water remains top priority for the district administration and called upon all executing agencies to work in close coordination to remove bottlenecks and accelerate the pace of implementation. He further directed officials to set clear timelines, maintain quality standards, and submit progress reports for effective monitoring.
During the visit, the DDC was accompanied by Executive Engineer PHE Pulwama and concerned Assistant Executive Engineers, AEs , JEs and other field functionaries.
The visit concluded with on-spot instructions to the concerned engineers and field staff to intensify efforts and ensure that the benefits of Jal Jeevan Mission reach every eligible household in a time-bound manner.
