Srinagar: Police on Tuesday said that it has detained a resident of Haryana at Baltal for utilizing a counterfeit Yatra Registration Card to fraudulently gain entry through security checkpoints.
In a statement released from the Zonal Police Headquarters in Srinagar Police said that the suspect has been identified as Shivam Mittal, son of Krishan Mittal, residing in Dwarka Puri, Jagadhri, District Yamunanagar, Haryana. Stating that the said accused acquired the forged Yatra Card through deceptive means and attempted to mislead security personnel, thus unlawfully circumventing the essential security verification process Police in its statement further said that a case has been registered under FIR No.13/2025 at Police Station Sonamarg, under the pertinent legal provisions, and a comprehensive investigation has been initiated. In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police reiterated its commitment to uphold safety of the yatra, emphasizing that stringent legal measures will be enforced against anyone found engaging in unlawful activities.
