DC Poonch chairs NCORD meeting; reviews anti-drug measures in Distt

Poonch : Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Vikas Kundal Tuesday chaired a meeting of the District-Level Committee under the Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) to review the ongoing anti-drug measures and assess the performance of enforcement departments in curbing the drug menace in the district.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner conducted a comprehensive review of the anti-narcotic activities, including the destruction of cannabis and the progress of the Nasha Mukt Panchayat initiative across tehsils.
Tehsildars presented detailed reports on the ongoing efforts and were instructed to regularly monitor computerized billing in chemist shops.
The District Social Welfare Officer informed the meeting that awareness campaigns under the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan are being held regularly with active public participation.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the inclusion of police, Army and CRPF personnel in these awareness drives to ensure a more impactful outreach.
Heads of colleges and schools shared updates on awareness activities and preventive initiatives conducted in educational institutions.
The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) provided updates on the counseling services, medical support and sensitization efforts being undertaken by the health department.
The DFO and Tehsildars were directed to take immediate action for the destruction of cannabis in identified areas. Additionally, the ACR Poonch was asked to organize a Nasha Mukt awareness camp at Degree College Mandi.
The Deputy Commissioner underscored the importance of coordinated efforts among departments to achieve the goal of making Poonch a drug-free district.
He called for increased surveillance in hotspot areas, installation of CCTV cameras, enhanced enforcement presence and sustained awareness drives.
The SSP stressed the need for seamless inter-departmental coordination and urged for swift action against any drug-related activity reported in the district.
The meeting was attended by SSP Poonch, ADC Poonch, DFO, ACR, DSWO, CMO, Professors from Degree Colleges, Drugs Inspector, Tehsildars and other concerned officers where SDMs from Surankote and Mendhar joined the meeting virtually.
