JAMMU, July 2: The Crime Branch (CB) has registered four separate FIRs against J&K Bank officers, a former Junior Assistant (JA), an LIC agent, a property dealer, and others in connection with multiple fraud cases involving embezzlement, cheating and forgery.

A Crime Branch official said in the first case, a formal complaint by the Cluster Head, J&K Bank Zonal Office Doda, led to an FIR against then Associate Executive Sanjeev Sharma and then Branch Head Bharat Bhagat of J&K Bank Bebrota, Ramban.

He said both officers, along with others, allegedly misappropriated Rs 64.67 lakh from fixed deposits, savings, and KCC accounts of 42 unsuspecting customers.

Sanjeev Sharma, now terminated, is a resident of Ambedkar Nagar, Paloura, and Bharat Bhagat is from Old Janipur.

The CB official said, in the second case, based on a communication from the General Administration Department (GAD), the Crime Branch booked Imran Nazir of Rajouri for allegedly securing appointment as Junior Assistant in the J&K Secretariat by producing a fake IT degree from Karnataka State Open University.

He was appointed under the ST category in June 2022, he said.

The third FIR, according to him, was registered following court directions on a complaint by Kewal Krishan Gupta of Nanak Nagar.

He said, LIC agent Rahul Shakdar of Anand Nagar, Bohri, was accused of duping the complainant of Rs 23 lakh on the false promise of securing a job for his grandson in the Ministry of MSME, Delhi.

In the fourth case, a complaint by Narinder Kour and Harminder Pal Singh of Channi Himmat resulted in an FIR against property dealer Muneer Hussain of Bari Brahmana and three others, including residents of Sopore and Nanak Nagar, the CB official said.

They allegedly cheated the complainants by taking money on the pretext of selling a plot of land at Chak Ratno, Jammu, he said.

SSP Crime Jammu, Benam Tosh confirmed that FIR numbers 29, 30, 31, and 32 of 2025 have been registered at Crime Branch (EOW) Police Station, and detailed investigations are underway.
