Mishra reviews Amarnath Yatra security, operational readiness along LoC in Rajouri, Poonch sectors

Jammu : General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the White Knight Corps (16 Corps), Lieutenant General P K Mishra on Friday commended the troops for their sustained and aggressive counter-terrorism operations in Poonch and Rajouri districts.
Ahead of forthcoming Amarnath Yatra, slated to commence on July 3, GOC Mishra visited Rajouri and Poonch today and reviewed operational preparedness in these frontier areas.
An official while sharing the details said that the GOC visited the headquarters of the Counter Insurgency Force (Romeo) in Rajouri and praised the troops for their professionalism, grit, and dedication in maintaining a high state of readiness to dominate the operational environment and counter potential threats.
The General Officer Commanding assessed the operational readiness of the Romeo Force, which is responsible for guarding the LoC and conducting counter-insurgency operations in the hinterland.
He emphasized the need for seamless domination of the operational environment, leveraging advanced surveillance infrastructure, rapid response capabilities, and close coordination with paramilitary forces and Jammu and Kashmir Police.
With the Amarnath Yatra 2025 approaching, Lieutenant General Mishra emphasized the importance of robust security measures to ensure the safety of pilgrims traveling to the holy cave shrine in south Kashmir.
The Romeo Force, operating under the White Knight Corps as part of Operation Rakshak, has been tasked with securing key areas along the yatra routes, particularly in the sensitive Poonch and Rajouri sectors, which spread through Line of Control and connecting Kashmir with Pir Panchal range.
The visit also focused on reinforcing security along the LoC in the Rajouri-Poonch sector, a region known for its strategic importance and vulnerability to infiltration.
Lt Gen Mishra lauded the troops for their relentless vigilance and high morale in challenging conditions, urging them to maintain the highest standards of professionalism.
“The Romeo Force’s aggressive counter-terrorism operations and steadfast commitment to security are pivotal in ensuring peace in this sensitive region,” he stated.
The GOC’s review included briefings on current operational modalities, logistical support, and communication systems
