DC reviews status of essential services in Ramban Distt, Stresses on timely redressal of public grievances

Ramban : Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Alyas Khan Friday chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess the functioning of Jal Shakti, JPDCL, Municipal Committees (MCs), with a focus on ensuring timely and quality service delivery to the public.
The meeting was attended by CPO Dr. Shakeeb Ahmed Rather; Executive Engineer Jal Shakti, AEEs of JPDCL, EO MC Ramban, EO MC Banihal and representatives from RDSS.
Discussing the disruption of services due to recent flash floods, the DC directed the Executive Engineer Jal Shakti to resolve the water supply-related issues immediately. He instructed the department to undertake regular cleaning of water storage tanks to ensure the supply of clean and safe drinking water.
The meeting was informed that 93 water supply schemes have been sanctioned under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) for Ramban district, of which 28 have been completed, while the remaining are at different stages of completion. The DC directed the officers to complete the rest of schemes on mission mode.
Reviewing the functioning of the JPDCL, the DC directed the Executive Engineer to ensure that damaged transformers are replaced within the set timeline. He further directed to ensure uninterrupted power supply to Hospitals, Pumping stations and other important installations of public interests. The DC also emphasized the need to expedite the installation of smart meters across the district to ensure regulated and proper power supply.
Reviewing the implementation of PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, the Deputy Commissioner stressed the need for an aggressive public awareness campaign to educate residents about the benefits, subsidies and key features of the scheme. He directed the stakeholders to achieve the targets in this regard.
Assessing the functioning of Municipal bodies, the DC directed MC authorities to accelerate work on the Multi-storey Bus Stand and other ongoing building projects in Ramban for their timely completion.
Inquiring about the implementation of PMAY-U housing scheme, the DC asked Municipal authorities to encourage the beneficiaries to complete construction of their houses.
Additionally, the civic bodies were directed to ensure proper cleanliness and sanitation, especially in view of the upcoming Amarnath Yatra 2025.
