DC calls for unified effort for smooth conduct of religious events

Budgam: To ensure a smooth, safe, and well-coordinated observance of the upcoming holy month of Muharram, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, Thursday chaired a high-level preparatory meeting at the Conference Hall of DC Office Complex Budgam.
The meeting aimed to review overall arrangements and mobilize departmental coordination for Muharram processions and congregational gatherings across the distt.
DC took a department-wise review and issued specific instructions for timely and effective action.
Dr Bilal emphasized the importance of proactive planning, ground-level coordination, and a responsive approach from all deptts. He directed officers to maintain close liaison with the local population and ensure all religious practices are observed with due respect and dignity.
On the occasion, he said, “We must ensure that every department works in tandem to provide a respectful environment for Muharram observances. Sensitivity, readiness, and coordination are key.”
He laid particular stress on uninterrupted electricity during processions, 24×7 water supply, cleanliness around congregation points, and availability of mobile toilets and water tankers. He also instructed prompt repair of roads, proper functioning of street lights, and deployment of adequate security and medical teams across sensitive areas, 24×7 Distt control room etc.
The meeting was attended by ADC Budgam, Joint Commissioner SMC, SDMs of Chadoora and Beerwah, Khanshaib; Superintending Engineer JKPDCL, Executive Engineers of PDD, Jal Shakti (PHE), and R&B Budgam, all Tehsildar’s, Executive Officer of all Municipal Committees of Budgam, officers from Fire & Emergency Services, Health, FCS&CA, and Police, public and religious representatives from Shia-dominated areas of the distt.
