Srinagar : Senior Superintendent of Police Srinagar, Dr. Sandeep Chakravarti, announced the successful completion of a joint mock drill at Yatra Niwas in Pantha Chowk, aimed at enhancing coordination and emergency response in preparation for the Amarnath Yatra. The drill focused on assessing readiness for various emergencies, including bomb blasts, stampedes, road accidents, fire incidents, and potential terror attacks. Dr. Chakravarti emphasized that the exercise demonstrated the administration’s commitment to ensuring the safety of the yatra and urged public cooperation with the established cut-off timings and overall preparations. In a proactive approach for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY) 2025, Srinagar Police conducted a comprehensive mock drill in collaboration with multiple agencies at strategic locations along the yatra route. The primary objectives included evaluating operational readiness, inter-agency coordination, and communication mechanisms for critical incidents. Participating agencies, including J&K Police, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), Fire and Emergency Services, and the Health Department, were briefed on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure effective response and coordination. The drill simulated various emergency scenarios, such as road traffic accidents and law and order situations, and involved real-time monitoring of response times and communication flow. Following the exercise, debriefing sessions were held to identify operational gaps and refine the Emergency Response Plan. The mock drill not only showcased the strengths of the district’s emergency response framework but also provided valuable insights for improvement. Such exercises are essential for safeguarding lives, enhancing institutional resilience, and ensuring a secure pilgrimage experience for all participants. Srinagar Police, along with partner agencies, reaffirmed their commitment to public safety and effective disaster management.
