Srinagar : Jammu & Kashmir Police has been recognized as one of the best-performing police forces in India for its exceptional contribution to passport verification services for the year 2024-25.
The police finalized an impressive 134,219 passport application verifications from April 2024 to March 2025, demonstrating a high disposal rate and commitment to timely service delivery. This recognition was awarded by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) during the Passport Seva Divas, which commemorates the enactment of the Passport Act of 1967. The event took place at CB Muthamma Hall, Jawaharlal Nehru Bhawan in New Delhi, attended by the Minister of State for External Affairs, senior MEA officials, representatives from 37 Passport Offices, and other key stakeholders. A significant highlight of the observance was the acknowledgment of J&K Police’s exemplary performance in Police and CID verification, a critical aspect of the passport issuance process. This award reflects the dedication and hard work of the officers and officials from the CID and Police departments, who have gone above and beyond to ensure efficient passport application verifications, bringing pride to the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir. The prestigious Certificate of Recognition was presented to J&K Police by the Minister of State for External Affairs, with Rayees Mohammad Bhat (IPS), DIG CID, representing the police force at the national event. This marks the first formal acknowledgment of J&K Police’s efforts in the timely disposal of passport cases at the national level.
