DC visits flash-flood affected Qazi Mohra area, assures swift restoration measures

Poonch : To assess the ground situation, Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal on Wednesday visited flashflood hit Qazi Mohra area (Ward No. 01) to assess the damages and evaluate ongoing flood prevention measures.
Accompanied by Additional Commissioner Revenue (ACR), Tehsildar Haveli, Executive Officer (EO) Municipality and other concerned officials, the DC undertook a strenuous uphill journey to inspect the most affected locations and residential areas.
The Deputy Commissioner took a comprehensive review of the damages caused to infrastructure and private property and issued directives for immediate action. He instructed the EO Municipality to thoroughly examine the existing watercourse in the area and implement remedial measures to minimize future flood risks.
The Tehsildar Haveli was directed to carry out a prompt damage assessment to both public and private properties. He was also asked to identify and clear any encroachments that may obstruct natural water flow or emergency restoration efforts.
Locals interacted with the Deputy Commissioner and apprised him of the challenges they are facing, including property damage and related concerns. The Deputy Commissioner assured the residents that restoration work will be initiated promptly and their grievances would be addressed on a priority basis.
While engaging with the residents, the DC also sought feedback and suggestions from them to help improve disaster preparedness and response in the future.
The visit underscores the Distt administration’s commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of the public, especially in disaster-prone areas.
