DC Srinagar reviews progress on heritage conservation projects in the Distt

DC emphasizes timely completion of preservation projects by stakeholder Deptts

Srinagar : Deputy Commissioner(DC) Srinagar, Akshay Labroo Tuesday chaired a meeting of the District Level Coordination-cum-Implementation Committee for the revival, restoration, preservation and maintenance of architectural and heritage sites here at the Meeting Hall of the DC Office Complex.
At the outset, the Deputy Commissioner was apprised about the progress of ongoing conservation projects undertaken in Srinagar District for preservation, revival, restoration and maintenance.
The DC took a comprehensive review of the status of the each project taken up under the initiative including restoration, conservation and development of Aali Masjid Eidgah, Khankahi Naqashband Sahib, Zeastha Devi Zeathyar temple, Baba Ghulam-U-Din Shrine Brein Nishat, Narayanmuth Shivji temple Tulsibagh, Ram Mandir Safakadal, Syed Mohammad Hussain Mazandarani, Vicharnag temple and Mangleshwar Bheirev Asthapan Babdam.
On the occasion, the DC laid emphasis on collaborative efforts by all line Departments in restoration practices to conserve architecture of the sites on heritage pattern. He also directed them to expedite efforts closely to ensure the effective implementation of heritage preservation projects.
During the meeting, the DC also discussed the new conservation projects identified for current fiscal. The DC asked them to prepare DPRs and estimates at the earliest ensuring all revival, restoration works are carried out while preserving the rich art, culture and heritage of Kashmir.
The DC stressed upon the stakeholder Departments to ensure speedy execution of the works on the heritage conservation projects so that they are completed in a time bound manner.
Besides Chief Planning Officer, Fayaz Ahmad Dar, the meeting was attended by Superintending Engineer R&B, District Statistics & Evaluation Officer, Deputy Director Archives, Executive Engineers of R&B and other concerned.
