Baramulla : Minister for Agriculture Production, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Javid Ahmad Dar, Monday inaugurated the macadamization work at the Fruit and Vegetable Mandi, Sopore.
The project, being executed at an estimated cost of ₹200.24 lakh, aims to significantly upgrade the market infrastructure, boost the horticulture economy and streamline transportation and business operations in one of North Kashmir’s key trade hubs.
The Minister also inaugurated the upgradation work on Rawoocha Hatchipora Pazalpora Hamam Markote road, an important connectivity project aimed at improving access for local residents and facilitating smoother movement of goods and services across the region.
Speaking on the occasion, Javid Dar said, “These critical infrastructure projects are part of a broader strategy to catalyze economic activity, improve quality of life and empower local businesses through better connectivity and modernized facilities.”
Later in the day, the Minister laid foundation stones for Model Panchayat Ghars at Daniwagha, Chatloora and Drussu in the Rafiabad constituency. Each Panchayat Ghar is being developed at a cost of ₹35 lakh under the Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA). The initiative is designed to enhance grassroots governance and promote inclusive and sustainable rural development.
Highlighting the vision behind these interventions, Javid Dar stated, “The aim of the Omar Abdullah-led government is to empower the rural areas, improve local governance and promote social justice and participatory development at the grassroots level.”
Addressing a public gathering at Governance Higher Secondary School, Dangiwacha, the Minister underscored the government’s commitment to youth empowerment. He urged the younger generation to make full use of various welfare and development schemes related to agriculture, horticulture, animal and sheep husbandry, skill development and entrepreneurship.
“The future of Jammu & Kashmir lies in the hands of its youth. We are investing in their education, skills and aspirations so that they can lead the region towards self-reliance and prosperity,” he said.
