Bandipora : As part of the ongoing Pan India Child Labour Eradication drive, and on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, district administration Bandipora Monday conducted a comprehensive awareness and inspection campaign in Aloosa, Bandipora.
A joint team comprising officials from Child Welfare Committee (CWC), District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Childline, Labour department, and district Police Bandipora, all working in tandem to combat the persistent issue of child labour carried out the drive.
The joint teams engaged with local communities, shopkeepers, and establishments to raise awareness about the severe legal and social ramifications of employing children. Emphasis was placed on sensitizing the public to the provisions of the Child and Adolescent Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, urging them to prioritize child Right to education and a safe environment.
Beyond awareness, campaign involved meticulous inspections aimed at identifying instances of child labour. The participating departments leveraged their respective expertise to ensure a thorough sweep, with a clear mandate to take legal action against anyone found violating child labour laws.
This drive in Aloosa is a crucial component of district administration Bandipora’s broader commitment to eradicating child labour, aligning with the national directive for intensified efforts. District administration Bandipora, has been actively promoting a child-friendly environment, recognizing that child labour deprives children of their fundamental rights and perpetuates cycles of poverty.
Chairperson CWC Bandipora highlighted their role in ensuring the rehabilitation and reintegration of rescued children, providing them with access to education, healthcare, and a nurturing environment.
DCPU, as the focal point for child protection activities at the district level, emphasized the importance of community vigilance and prompt reporting of child labour cases through Child helpline 1098.
Labour department underscored its commitment to strict enforcement of labour laws, while the District Police assured robust action against violators.
On the occasion, officers urged citizens to actively participate in this crucial fight by reporting any instances of child labour and supporting efforts towards a child-labour-free Bandipora.
