Srinagar: Paras Health Srinagar, a leading super specialty hospital in Jammu and Kashmir, proudly launched its cutting-edge Mother and Baby Care Department on the eve of International Yoga Day celebrations.
The inauguration, held at the hospital’s Dalgate facility, represents a significant advancement in improving maternal health, neonatal care, and wellness for mothers and infants throughout Kashmir, in line with the global theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.” The newly established department boasts advanced infrastructure, including neonatal intensive care units (NICUs), modern labor and delivery suites, and specialized obstetrics and gynecology services. It is staffed by a committed team of gynecologists, pediatricians, neonatologists, and skilled nurses, all dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality healthcare tailored to the needs of mothers and newborns. This initiative addresses the region’s need for accessible, specialized care, minimizing the necessity for families to seek treatment outside of Kashmir. Dr. Santy Sajan, Group COO of Paras Health, officiated the inauguration, remarking, “Our Mother and Baby Care Department is a landmark achievement in our mission to provide affordable and accessible healthcare. We are dedicated to enhancing the health and well-being of mothers and infants in Srinagar with world-class facilities and compassionate care.” The hospital’s 200-bedded infrastructure, which includes 64 ICU beds and six modular operating theaters, complements the new department, reinforcing its position as a premier multispecialty hospital with Centers of Excellence in cardiology, oncology, neurosciences, and orthopedics. The launch event embraced the essence of International Yoga Day 2025, featuring a special health awareness session centered on prenatal yoga to encourage physical well-being and stress relief for expectant mothers. This initiative resonated with the region-wide celebrations, including a mass yoga event at the High Altitude Warfare School (HAWS) in Gulmarg, where Indian Army personnel participated in yoga practice.
