Srinagar: 11th International Yoga Day (IYD) was celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm at JKSCERT–Kashmir Division, under the leadership of Additional Chief Secretary Higher Education Shantmanu ( and guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Sindhu Kapoor, Joint Director Central JKSCERT, and Syed Shabir Ahmad Joint Director JKSCERT–KD.
The event witnessed wholehearted participation from faculty members of SCERT-KD, as well as resource persons from District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs) across the Kashmir Division, where the day was marked with equal fervor. Thousands of students and community members also engaged in yogic exercises, acknowledging yoga’s contribution to physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.
The programme featured a variety of activities including breathing exercises, asanas, stretching routines, and expert-led talks. At JKSCERT–KD, the celebrations lifted the spirits of all present. A guest lecture by a representative from the Sports Council emphasized the value of incorporating yoga into the school curriculum to foster perseverance, discipline, and emotional balance among students.
In addition to the central celebrations, the International Yoga Day was also observed across all DIETs in the division, where various competitions and awareness initiatives were conducted. These activities aimed to stimulate interest and deepen students’ understanding of yoga, embedding both knowledge and enthusiasm for the practice in young minds. This year’s celebrations embraced the global theme “One Earth, One Health,” underlining yoga’s role in aligning personal wellness with planetary harmony.
