KPDCL begins probe, attaches four employees

Srinagar : A 32-year-old daily wager working with the Power Development Department (PDD), lost his life after falling from an electric pole while carrying out repair work in Imoh Achabal area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
The deceased has been identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Lone, son of Nazir Ahmad Lone, a resident of Hiller Kokernag.
The incident as per officials occurred on Saturday when he was engaged in repairing an electric line in the area. During the course of the work, he fell from the pole and sustained critical injuries, he said.
Lone was immediately shifted to GMC Anantnag, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Meanwhile, the Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) of KPDCL Anantnag has attached four PDD employees pending inquiry into the circumstances leading to the incident.
The order stated that the field staff of the Imoh sector is “hereby attached with this sub-division with immediate effect.”
“Sector Incharge Bulbul Nowgam will now look after the Imoh sector in addition to his own duties, ensuring that ongoing operations are not disrupted,” reads the order.
Meanwhile, police have registered a case and initiated an investigation in this regard. The incident has once again highlighted the risky working conditions of daily wagers, especially those engaged in fieldwork without adequate safety gear or protocols
