DC Kulgam visits Imam Bara Shahoo, Reviews Muharram-ul-Haram arrangements

Kulgam : In view of the forthcoming holy month of Muharram-ul-Haram, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Athar Aamir Khan, Friday visited Imam Bara Shahoo where he chaired a joint meeting of officers and representatives of the Imambara to review and finalize the arrangements for the observance of Muharram.
During the meeting, DC issued a series of directions to ensure smooth conduct of religious gatherings during the holy days. He directed the officers from KPDCL and Jal Shakti to ensure uninterrupted power and water supply, particularly in Shia-populated areas of the district.
Jal Shakti department was asked to keep tanker services available at key Imambaras, while KPDCL authorities were instructed to install gensets at designated locations to ensure power backup.
FCS&CA department was directed to ensure adequate availability of essential commodities in Shia-dominated areas, while the Health department was directed to establish first aid camps near major Imam Baras and keep ambulance services on standby to meet any emergency.
R&B department was instructed to undertake necessary repairs of roads and link roads, especially those leading to the Imam Baras, to facilitate smooth movement of mourners.
Further, Municipal Committees were directed to ensure proper sanitation and cleanliness in and around the Imam Baras.
To ensure smooth and hassle-free movement of processions and devotees, ARTO and Traffic authorities were also directed to put in place effective traffic regulations.
Directions were also given for repair and functioning of high-mast and street lights near religious sites to ensure proper illumination and safety.
DC also inspected the facilities available at Imam Bara Shahoo and interacted with members of the community to assess the requirements on the ground.
The meeting was attended by DDC member, Mohammad Ibrahim; ADC, ACR, ACD, CMO, ARTO, Tehsildar Pahloo, Executive Engineer Jal Shakti, and other senior officers, besides representatives from the Shia community.
