Srinagar : Police in Sopore convened an interactive meeting with retired police officers at the District Police Lines Sopore on Thursday, aimed at honoring their contributions and addressing welfare-related issues.
The meeting was presided over by the SSP Sopore alongside the DySP DAR Sopore, and was attended by numerous retired officers of the J&K Police. During the event, the SSP Sopore expressed profound respect for the legacy of the retired personnel, noting that although their active service has ended, their influence continues to guide the current ranks. He further remarked, ‘You are not retired; you are revered. Your spirit still protects these gates, and your legacy endures in every shift we undertake.’ The retired officers contributed valuable perspectives and voiced concerns regarding post-retirement welfare, pension issues, and ongoing engagement with the department. The presiding officers assured them that legitimate concerns would be addressed promptly. The meeting concluded with a reaffirmation of the Police’s commitment to enhancing the relationship between serving and retired personnel—preserving not merely a framework of service, but a family in uniform. This initiative exemplifies the Police’s commitment to honoring the past, empowering the present, and fostering a legacy of respect, service, and unity.
