Srinagar : In order to provide students with vital life-saving skills, the University Health Centre and the Department of Students’ Welfare (DSW) at the University of Kashmir (KU), in partnership with Help Humans, conducted a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid Training program on Thursay at the Division of Youth Affairs Hall, Naseem Bagh, Main Campus.
The Master trainer Dr. Itinderpal Singh Bali, along with his team, showcased fundamental CPR techniques and emergency response methods that are essential for handling medical emergencies. The training session emphasized practical demonstrations and experiential learning, where students were instructed on how to perform CPR, including effective chest compressions, airway management, and rescue breathing. Participants were also educated on basic first aid measures for scenarios such as choking, fainting, bleeding, fractures, and burns, equipping them to respond confidently in medical emergencies. During the event, the Registrar of KU, Prof. Naseer Iqbal, praised the initiative, stating, “Basic life support skills are no longer optional; they are essential. Every student trained in CPR has the potential to save a life. Such initiatives enhance our readiness for emergencies both on and off campus.” Prof. Parvez Ahmed, Dean of Students Welfare at KU, remarked that this initiative demonstrates the University’s continuous dedication to student welfare and practical life education. “Equipping youth with this knowledge fosters a culture of preparedness and compassion. These trainings are also vital in the realm of disaster management and emergency response, where prompt action can save lives and mitigate harm,” he added. Dr. Khalid Nazir, Coordinator of the Health Centre at KU, highlighted the significance of such training in his welcome address, stating that acquiring CPR and first aid skills can significantly impact life-saving efforts during critical situations.
