Jal Shakti, Agricultural Production Ministers review development projects at B’la,push for faster implementation

Baramulla: Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment, and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana and Minister for Agricultural Production, Rural Development, and Panchayati Raj, Javid Ahmad Dar, co-chaired a comprehensive review meeting in Baramulla. The meeting focused on assessing the progress on various developmental projects under the District Capex Budget 2024-25, State Plan and the Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSSs).
The review aimed to enhance the mechanisms for closer monitoring of public services, ensuring transparency, accountability and expedited project execution at the district level.
The meeting was attended by the MLA Baramulla, Javid Hassan Beigh; MLA Wagoora-Kreeri, Irfan Hafiz Lone; MLA Sopore, Irshad Rasool Kar; MLA Pattan, Riyaz Bedar; MLA Uri, Dr.Sajad Shafi; Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Minga Sherpa besides HODs and district officers from all the concerned departments.
During the meeting, the Ministers conducted a comprehensive review of sector-wise schemes and sought detailed status reports on individual projects from the Heads of Departments (HoDs) of the concerned departments.
The Jal Shakti Minister, issued strict directions to all Heads of Departments (HoDs) for ensuring regular site visits to monitor the progress on the ongoing works being done under various developmental schemes.
Javed Ahmad Rana further instructed the concerned department heads to ensure timely execution and completion of all developmental projects while maintaining both quality and accountability throughout the implementation process.
Regarding the pressing issue of drug abuse in the society, Javid Ahmad Dar urged the healthcare services and law enforcement agencies to engage the drug-affected individuals with care and compassion and help them reintegrate into society through counseling, treatment and sustained support.
During the meeting, MLAs from various constituencies of the district put forth key public grievances and developmental demands. These included macadamization of roads in their constituencies, access to potable water and street lighting.
Earlier, Deputy Commissioner Minga Sherpa provided a comprehensive presentation outlining the district’s overall developmental landscape highlighting both the financial and physical progress achieved across various sectors.
Furthermore, Deputy Commissioner provided a sector- wise update of the projects undertaken by different departments. He highlighted the district’s significant progress, achieving 94 percent in implementation of centrally sponsored schemes and 88 percent of the targeted expenditure for the financial year 2024-25.
Later, the Ministers, accompanied by the MLAs and officers, participated in a plantation drive held within the premises of Dak Bungalow Baramulla.
