Aijaz Khan headed EJCC announces support to June 23 protest call of J&K , Ladakh Pensioners United Front

Srinagar| June,20: The Employees Joint Consultative Committee (EJCC), representing many employees headed by noted Trade Union Leader Aijaz Ahmad Khan on Friday announced full support for the protest called by Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh Pensioners United Front  and asked retired employees to participate outside Deputy Commissioners’ offices. Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh Pensioners United Front has called for a peaceful protest on June 23, 2025, in response to the Central Government’s decision regarding the 8th Pay Commission, which will not include benefits for retired employees.  The Central Government plans to implement the 8th Pay Commission in January 2026 but has stated that its recommendations will not apply to retired employees. The Pensioners United Front’s protest aims to challenge this decision and submit memorandums to the authorities.
In a statement issued here on Friday the EJCC Chairman Aijaz Ahmad Khan said that Government’s actions are unjust and inhumane, highlighting therein that retired employees need financial support to manage their responsibilities and live peacefully. He reminded that the Supreme Court has already directing entitlement of benefits  to retired employees at par with the in service employees.  Khan condemned the labeling of retired employees as “deadwood” and questioned why former lawmakers receive privileges while dedicated public servants are denied rights after retirement. He appealed the Government to treat retired employees with dignity and respect, emphasizing their importance in society.
