Srinagar : Two faculty members from the Civil Engineering Department at NIT Srinagar, Dr. Vivek and Dr. SandeepSamantaray, have co-edited a research book titled “Waste Utilization in Geotechnical Practice” published by Wiley.
The book focuses on using various types of waste materials in geotechnical engineering work, such as improving soil, building embankments, and supporting foundations. It highlights how waste can be safely and effectively used in construction, offering both environmental and economic benefits. The book aims to address two major challenges: waste disposal and the need for sustainable construction. It shows how materials like fly ash, slag, construction debris, and other types can be reused in geotechnical projects without compromising safety or strength. The authors believe that the knowledge shared in the book will help in designing infrastructure that is both strong and environmentally friendly. The book is expected to help students, engineers, researchers, and professionals working in civil and environmental engineering.
