Temp rises in Kashmir, settles below normal in Jammu

Srinagar: While the weatherman here has predicted rains and thunderstorms for the next one week, the maximum temperature has risen across Kashmir while it continued to settle below normal in Jammu on Tuesday.
Reports said that Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, along with other parts of the valley, once again witnessed above normal temperature with mercury settling at 30.5 degrees Celsius in the city on Tuesday.
Qazigund, a gateway of Kashmir, recorded a maximum temperature of 29.6 degrees Celsius while Pahalgam recorded 24.2 degrees Celsius. In Kokernag, the mercury settled at 28.4 degrees Celsius while Kupwara and Gulmarg, a famous ski resort, recorded 29.3 degrees Celsius and 19.6 degrees Celsius respectively.
Jammu division, however, continued to record below normal temperatures, with the winter capital of the region recording a maximum temperature of 35.5 degrees Celsius.
Banihal recorded 28.2 degrees Celsius, Batote 27.1 degrees Celsius, Katra 31.8 degrees Celsius and Bhaderwah 27.2 degrees Celsius.
Pertinently, Director MeT, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad had said that there is a possibility of a brief spell of rain, thundershower with gusty winds at isolated to scattered places till June 20.
However, he said that generally cloudy weather with intermittent spells of rain and thundershower is expected at many places between June 21 and June 23. Amidst the forecast, the farmers have been advised to continue the farm operations
