Baramulla: In a vibrant confluence of wellness and awareness, Youth Services and Sports (YSS), Baramulla, in collaboration with the Excise department (North Kashmir Range) and the Social Welfare department Baramulla, Tuesday organized a Yoga Session and Community Outreach programme at the picturesque Eco Park, Khadniyar Baramulla.
The initiative was part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and a spirited prelude to the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY-2025), aiming to promote physical well-being and substance-free living.
The event was presided over by the Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Baramulla, Ghulam Rasool Mir and witnessed enthusiastic participation from a wide cross-section of society including district officers, officials from various line departments, and an impressive gathering of over 700 students drawn from different educational institutions across the district.
In the serene natural surroundings of Eco Park, participants collectively performed a series of yoga asanas and breathing exercises, under the guidance of trained instructors. The yoga session served not only as a wellness activity but also as a unifying platform to convey the importance of physical fitness, mental clarity, and a drug-free lifestyle.
Speaking on the occasion, ADDC lauded the collaborative efforts of the departments involved in organising the event and emphasized the growing relevance of yoga in today’s fast-paced life.
He also highlighted the importance of youth engagement in nation-building and the pivotal role yoga and awareness programs play in shaping a healthy, responsible future generation.
The event concluded on a high note with a renewed commitment from all stakeholders to continue community engagement and advocacy efforts for promoting a healthier, more conscious and addiction-free society.
