Srinagar: A group of Assistant Grading and Marketing Officers (AGMOs) from the Horticulture Planning and Marketing Department has expressed concern over an 11-year delay in the convening of Departmental Promotion Committees (DPCs) for their promotion to the post of Area Marketing Officers (AMOs).
According to the aggrieved officers, they were promoted to the position of AMOs in 2013, but the formal DPC process essential for regularization and career progression has not been conducted till date.
Despite multiple representations to the authorities within the Agriculture Production Department (APD), the issue remains unresolved.
“The DPCs have not been held for reasons best known to the APD authorities. We have repeatedly approached the department, but no steps have been taken to address our concerns,” said one of the officers on condition of anonymity.
The officers also pointed out that while a tentative seniority list for direct-recruit AGMOs was issued in January 2023, the final list is yet to be released. They argue that the absence of a finalized seniority list has further delayed the promotion process and created administrative uncertainty within the department.
The affected officers have now appealed to the Minister for Agriculture Production to intervene personally, hoping that the long-pending DPCs will finally be conducted.
The matter has gained traction as it highlights broader concerns about administrative delays and the lack of timely promotions in government departments, affecting morale and operational efficiency.
As of now, there has been no official response from the APD regarding the delay or any timeline for conducting the pending DPCs
