Srinagar: Police on Saturday said that it has arrested drug peddler in Budgam and also recovered a significant quantity of contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police team from Police Station Khansahib during patrolling in Dreygam village, intercepted a suspect while carrying a nylon bag and during search recovered 14.7 kgs of poppy straw-like substance from the said bag. Stating that a personal search further led to the seizure of ₹18,640 in cash and two mobile phones and the bag carried by one Ghulam Rasool Beigh S/o Mohammad Abdullah Beigh R/o Dreygam who was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Police in its statement further said that a case under FIR No. 111/2025 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Khansahib besides initiating further investigation.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement police reiterated its commitment to eradicate drug menace from society and appealed people to report any information related to drug peddling or trafficking.
