Jammu: Deputy Commissioner Sachin Kumar Vaishya conducted a comprehensive tour of Block Bhalwal Saturday to assess ongoing development activities and assess the status of public infrastructure across the region.
The tour included field visits to Water Supply Schemes—Raipur, Baran and Sobka, where the DC inquired about water quality parameters and distribution networks. While inspecting rural road networks, the DC stressed the need for construction standards that ensure durability. He also visited a functioning Poly House unit and reviewed progress under various HADP projects being implemented in the area.
In a meeting held at the BDO Bhalwal office, the DC addressed officers from multiple departments. He highlighted the need for systematic waste management and public cleanliness drives, noting that behavioural change among residents remains crucial for long-term success.
“Amrit Sarovar works must be given special attention,” the DC told all the concerned officers, while also directing that road maintenance activities be prioritised. He called for accelerated implementation of the RDSS scheme under the Power Development Department.
“Your service should facilitate people and help fulfill their aspirations as part of your professional duty,” the DC reminded officers during the meeting.
During a surprise visit to Sub Division Hospital Bhalwal, the DC interacted with medical staff and emphasised the importance of punctuality and professional conduct. He examined biometric attendance records and prescription audit status while reviewing the availability of medicines and medical equipment. The DC issued directions for improving supply chains and infrastructure gaps identified during the inspection.
The DC reviewed OPD records and discussed the performance of Jan Aushadhi Kendra operations. He examined statistics related to diagnostic services and reiterated the importance of consistent public service delivery. Several administrative issues raised by hospital staff were noted for appropriate resolution.
The DC was accompanied by SDM Jammu North, Deepak Kumar, Chief Planning Officer, Uttam Singh; ExEn Jal Shakti Rocky Mahajan; Tehsildar Bhalwal, Monika Sharma; Assistant Commissioner Development, Danish Rasool besides various other senior officers.
