PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana: Poonch admin plans to develop Solar Villages

DC calls for spreading mass awareness, fast track registration

Poonch: Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal Friday chaired a review meeting to assess the status of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana in the district. The meeting focused on evaluating the progress of the scheme, identifying bottlenecks and devising strategies to ensure timely implementation.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned departments to launch a mass awareness campaign to educate the general public about the scheme’s benefits and simplify the registration process to maximize public participation.
Highlighting the importance of coordinated efforts, the DC instructed the power department, banks and vendors to work in close synergy to resolve any technical, financial or procedural issues being faced by the applicants. He emphasized that timely approvals, hassle free processing and handholding of beneficiaries are crucial for the success of the scheme.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the stakeholders to continue to work with dedication to achieve 100% coverage under the scheme, contributing towards the broader goal of promoting clean, affordable and sustainable energy.
The meeting was attended by Superintending Engineer JPDCL, ADDC, Executive Engineer JPDCL, AEEs, JEs, AEE STD, JEs & Technicians, Cluster Head J&K Bank, Lead District Manager J&K Bank, I/c Draba Grid Station with JEs & Technician staff, I/c Grid Chandak and all empanelled vendors of Surya Ghar Yojana for District Poonch.
Later, Deputy Commissioner chaired a meeting of the District Level implementation Committee for the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana to discuss the selection of villages to be developed as Solar Villages.
The Committee recommended the villages as per the set parameters and the meeting decided to roll out the final list shall after completion of the due procedure.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of the Solar Villages initiative in promoting clean energy, reducing dependence on conventional power sources, and bringing long term socio economic benefits to rural areas.
