Srinagar : District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Srinagar, in collaboration with Bilaliya Educational Institute, observed the ‘World Day against Child Labour’ with deep commitment and meaningful engagement.
The programme was held at the premises of Bilaliya Educational Institute and reflected a shared resolve to sensitize young minds about the pressing issue of child labour and promote awareness about children’s rights and legal protections.
The programme was conducted under the chairmanship of Tasleem Arief, Principal District and Sessions Judge, Srinagar, and supervised by Sajad Ur Rehman, Sub-Judge/Secretary, DLSA Srinagar.
Nisar Ahmed, Principal of Bilaliya Educational Institute emphasized the role of educational institutions in shaping informed and responsible citizens. He highlighted the importance of instilling legal and moral values in students to help eliminate exploitative practices like child labour.
Jahan Aara, Deputy Chief Legal Aid Defense Counsel, DLSA Srinagar, served as the resource person for the occasion. In her informative address, she discussed the legal framework surrounding child labour, detrimental effects it has on children’s development and collective role of communities in ensuring child protection and welfare.
Adding a vibrant dimension to the programme, students of Bilaliya Educational Institute also spoke on the occasion, sharing their thoughts and reflections on the importance of education, children’s rights, and the role youth can play in creating a just and equitable society. Their active participation in discussions and interactive segments reflected the growing awareness and sensitivity among the younger generation.
This collaborative effort between DLSA Srinagar and Bilaliya Educational Institute underscored the powerful role of legal and educational institutions in nurturing a generation that is not only socially conscious but also legally empowered.
DLSA Srinagar reaffirms its commitment to continuing such initiatives that blend awareness, education, and legal empowerment for a brighter and more just future.
