Awareness Camp on Micro Food Processing Enterprises Held in Bemina Srinagar

Srinagar: The Office of the Area Marketing Officer, serving as the District Nodal Officer for the Prime Minister’s Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme in Srinagar, organized a one-day awareness camp at Bemina. The initiative aimed to promote the concept of micro food processing enterprises and enhance knowledge among stakeholders, especially growers and traders.
The event was organised by District nodel Officer Muhammad Shafi Rather & witnessed the participation of various dignitaries including Mrs. Asima Rafiq, Scientist in Food Science and Technology at Krishi Vigyan Kendra Srinagar, bank officials, representatives from allied departments, food processing beneficiaries, and a large gathering of growers and traders, notably members of the Iqbal Sabzi Mandi Batmaloo Traders Association. The camp featured informative sessions delivered by experts, including the Area Marketing Officer, Assistant Grading and Marketing Officer, District Resource Person, and scholars in the field. The President of Iqbal Sabzi Mandi also shared valuable insights. The primary objective of the awareness camp was to empower local entrepreneurs, growers, and traders with essential knowledge and skills needed to establish and operate micro food processing enterprises. The initiative is part of the broader “One District One Product” campaign to boost economic activity and development.
Participants engaged in interactive discussions, sharing their experiences and learning about the opportunities and support available under the PMFME scheme. The event concluded successfully, raising awareness about micro food processing and inspiring attendees to explore avenues for entrepreneurship. The initiative is expected to contribute to the establishment and growth of micro enterprises in the food processing sector, ultimately creating job opportunities and strengthening the local economy.
