Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan: VC SKUAST-Jammu chairs Outreach Programme at Dathpath Kishtwar

Kishtwar: An extensive outreach programme under the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan was successfully conducted Tuesday here at Dathpath with Vice Chancellor of SKUAST-Jammu, Prof. B.N. Tripathi as the chief guest.
The programme, organized by Head of the local Krishi Vigyan Kendra Dr. Narinder Paul, witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 500 farmers.
In his address, the Vice Chancellor emphasized the pivotal role of sustainable agriculture and government initiatives in uplifting rural livelihood. He encouraged farmers to adopt modern farming practices and avail the benefits of the centrally sponsored agriculture and allied sector schemes.
Director Extension SKUAST-Jammu Dr. Amrish Vaid provided an overview of the KVK’s outreach efforts and highlighted the need for capacity building among farmers through such programmes. He reiterated the University’s commitment to the holistic development of the farming community in remote areas like Kishtwar.
The event also witnessed the active participation of key academic figures, including Dr. Vikas Tandon, Dean, Faculty of Horticulture; Dr. Sudhakar Dwedi, Dean, Students Welfare; Dr. Anil Sharma, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture; Dr. Hema Tripathi, Associate Director Extension; Dr. Vijay Sharma, Deputy Director Extension and Dr. Vinod Gupta, Professor & Head, Division of Extension, who shared their expert insights on topics ranging from crop diversification and organic farming to student engagement and farmer education. Dr. Kushal Chandel, Chief Agriculture Officer also spoke on the occasion.
As part of the programme, high-quality seeds were distributed among the farmers, while detailed awareness sessions were held on the government schemes related to agriculture, horticulture, irrigation and farmers’ welfare. Resource persons explained how farmers can access subsidies, technical support, and training through these schemes.
The initiative, aimed at empowering farmers with both resources and knowledge, was widely appreciated by attendees for its practical approach and farmer-centric orientation.
The outreach programme concluded with an interactive session, where farmers posed questions and shared their on-ground challenges, which were duly addressed by the experts.
