Drugs Free J&K: Distt admin Srinagar organizes district-wide Anti Drugs awareness programmes

Students, youth volunteers, educators, field staff engages to educate people about the ill effects of drug abuse
Srinagar : In order to educate masses about the ill effects of drug abuse, district administration on the directions of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat conducted a series of anti drugs awareness programmes and action-oriented activities under the banner of ‘Drugs Free Jammu and Kashmir’ across all eight physical education zones of the district.
District Youth Services & Sports Office (DYSSO), Srinagar conducted the awareness campaign, in collaboration with the District Social Welfare department and under the overall supervision of the district administration Srinagar.
The campaign aimed to encourage positive lifestyle choices through fitness, sports, and community participation to engage students, youth volunteers, field staff, educators and community members.
Different types of activities were held including a marathon/ walkathon/ run against drug abuse. Awareness rallies and runs were organized to mobilize public opinion against substance abuse, with participants actively promoting the message of a drug-free society.
Similarly, sports events themed ‘Play for Drug-Free Srinagar’ and various other sporting activities were held to channelize youth energy into healthy recreational pursuits, paired with briefings on the dangers of addiction.
Yoga displays and fitness awareness camps and fitness drills were also organized alongside motivational talks by field experts and educators, focusing on holistic well-being and drug resistance.
Moreover, the Drug-Free pledge was also administered to all participants during each activity, reaffirming their commitment to live a life free from substance abuse and to promote the same within their communities.
The campaign witnessed enthusiastic participation and strong community involvement, reflecting a shared resolve among youth and civil society to combat the drug menace collectively.
District Youth Services & Sports Office Srinagar supervised the awareness campaign with active support of Zonal Officers, field staff, volunteers, and the District Administration Srinagar.
