The rally was organized by Municipal Council Anantnag in collaboration with the Youth Services & Sports department and the Education department, to promote environmental consciousness and sustainable practices among citizens.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from NCC Cadets, students, teachers, volunteers, civil society members and officials of Municipal Council, Youth Services & Sports and Education Department.
During the rally, participants carried placards and chanted slogans emphasizing the importance of protecting the environment, reducing plastic usage, conserving water, and promoting afforestation. The rally created a lively and inspiring atmosphere, reinforcing the message of environmental stewardship.
Addressing the gathering, MLA highlighted the urgent need for collective action to combat climate change and environmental degradation. He emphasized that environmental protection is not solely the responsibility of the government but a shared duty of every citizen.
Representatives from the Youth Services & Sports department and the Education Department also addressed the participants, urging the younger generation to become active ambassadors of environmental conservation. They commended the spirited involvement of students, who played a central role in the day’s activities.
In addition to the rally, a series of awareness initiatives such as tree plantation drives, street plays, and environmental pledge ceremonies were conducted in schools and public spaces.
The observance of World Environment Day served as a powerful reminder of the collective responsibility to build a greener, cleaner, and more sustainable future. The active participation of various departments and community members reaffirmed Anantnag’s strong commitment to environmental protection.
Similarly, in a spirited celebration of World Environment Day 2025, Social Forestry Division Anantnag and Lidder Forest Division Anantnag separately organized a series of impactful events aimed at raising awareness about environmental conservation and promoting eco-friendly practices across the district.
Social Forestry Division Anantnag, in collaboration with Nice Higher Secondary School Srigufwara, led an enthusiastic awareness rally and plantation drive in Srigufwara. Students, staff, and forest officials participated in the rally, carrying placards and chanting slogans to spread awareness about environmental preservation.
The rally was followed by a plantation drive, during which various saplings were planted by DFO Social Forestry Anantnag, school Chairman, concerned Range Officer and student participants, symbolizing a shared commitment to greening the environment and combating degradation.
Likewise, the Lidder Forest Division Anantnag organized an awareness rally for tribal students of Government Middle School Arm Pathri Sheikhpo Sallar, held deep within the scenic forests of Sallar. The initiative aimed to educate young minds about the importance of a pollution-free environment and the crucial role of forests in sustaining life on Earth.
