The marathon was flagged-off by Member Legislative Assembly Sopore, Irshad Rasool Kar at MRF Chowk, Model Town Sopore which concluded at War Automobiles, Saidpora (Bypass).
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 600 students to raise awareness against drug abuse and promote a healthy & addiction-free lifestyle.
Applauding the initiative, MLA said, “Our youth are the torchbearers of a healthy and progressive society. Campaigns like the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan gain true strength when students lead from the front. Tuesday’s run is not just a race but a powerful message of resistance against addiction.”
Students from various government and private educational institutions participated in the awareness event, carrying banners and raising slogans advocating for a drug-free society.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Sopore, Shabir Ahmad Raina also present on the occasion, underscored the importance of youth-led awareness campaigns in tackling the drug menace. “When 600 students run with purpose, it’s more than an event — it’s a collective voice demanding change,” he said, assuring continued administrative support for such efforts.
