GDC Kulgam kick-starts ‘World Environment Day’ campaign-2025

Kulgam: World Environment Day campaign-2025 was kick-started on Monday by the Department of Environmental Science, Govt. Degree College Kulgam in collaboration with NSS unit of the college on the theme ‘Ending Plastic Pollution Globally’ under the slogan ‘One Nation, One Mission: End Plastic Pollution’.
The campaign will conclude with the grand celebration of the main event on the 05th June 2025 (World Environment Day).
Principal of the college, Prof. (Dr.) M Abbas Shah in his address emphasized on the importance of protecting the natural environment from plastic pollution and sensitized students about various environmental issues humanity is facing.
Invited speaker on the occasion, Dr. Suhaib Ahmad Bandh, Assistant Professor (Environmental Science) Department of Environmental Science Sri Pratap College Srinagar in his talk gave a detailed presentation on Plastic pollution. He also laid emphasis on the technological options for the revival of ecosystems affected by plastic pollution.
Head, Department of Environmental Science and organizing secretary of the program, Dr. Gowhar Hamid Dar highlighted the historical importance of the day and deliberated upon the significance of putting an end to the plastic pollution. He also spoke about the negative impacts of plastic pollution on our critical environs. The program was attended by the students and the staff of the college.
