“Obviously the Home Ministry may take its own time to take decisions on relief, rehabilitation and security of the border populations after consolidating the ground assessment reports of both the J&K BJP and as well as Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister.”

The reach out of Home Minister Amit Shah to the shelling hit families of Poonch district during his two day visit to Jammu this week was not just a show of solidarity but an act of healing the bleeding hearts in this border district worst hit by the shelling during recent skirmishes on borders across Jammu & Kashmir.  Announcing Government jobs for NOKs of the shelling victims the Home Minister during his visit to Poonch rolled out a comprehensive relief package including reconstruction of residential houses and construction of more bunkers besides the already constructed 9500 bunkers in border districts. In response to fresh demands of border populations on security and safety the Home Minister shared their concerns on construction of more underground bunkers in the areas which are more vulnerable to shelling in critical times. Notably the BJP had recently deputed its own teams to shelling hit areas of both Jammu division and as well as Kashmir valley for assessment of the damaged civilian structures, construction of underground shelters and rehabilitation of the shelling hit families . So for the BJP teams have recommended reconstruction of 1500 houses including 690 of Poonch district and 534 of Uri area in Baramulla district of Kashmir Valley. After receiving the proposals and recommendations from the assessment teams of J&K BJP the Home Ministry may also receive some proposals for reconstruction of damaged houses, construction of community bunkers and rehabilitation of shelling hit families from the office of the Chief Minister also.

“While Community bunkers for the safety of border populations and relief measures to them in most trying times gives the border populations the strength to resist stress of shelling in the most critical times knocking their doors year after year again and again, the reconstruction of the damaged civil infrastructure can reduce the lapses in the delivery of critical public services in future.”

Notably the MLAs of several border constituencies have also forwarded their demands for relief, rehabilitation, security and safety of their own border areas recently hit by the cross border shelling. Obviously the Home Ministry may take its own time to take decisions on relief, rehabilitation and security of the border populations after consolidating the ground assessment reports of both the J&K BJP and as well as Jammu & Kashmir Chief Minister. Home Minister has already said that jobs, houses, bunkers and other relief measures can’t compensate the recent deaths of civilians during shelling on the border but would give the shelling hit families the courage to live their lives and stand in solidarity with the soldiers guarding the borders in most critical times. While Community bunkers for the safety of border populations and relief measures to them in most trying times gives the border populations the strength to resist stress of shelling in the most critical times knocking their doors year after year again and again, the reconstruction of the damaged civil infrastructure can reduce the lapses in the delivery of critical public services in future.
