‘Mera Shehar Meri Pehchan’ campaign: MC Ang organises ‘Swachhta Darshan’

Anantnag : In a spirited effort to promote awareness and community participation in maintaining cleanliness, Municipal Council (MC) Anantnag Thursday organized a large-scale cleanliness cum awareness programme titled ‘Swachhta Darshan’ under the national theme ‘Mera Shehar Meri Pehchaan’.
The event began with an enthusiastic awareness walk from Sarnal to Iqbalabad, witnessing active participation from a wide cross-section of society.
A large number of citizens, students, NCC cadets, officials of the Municipal Council Anantnag and representatives from various government departments took part in the programme. Their collective participation reflected a shared commitment to promoting cleanliness and civic responsibility.
Students led the procession while holding vibrant placards displaying messages advocating the cleanliness of homes, surroundings, water bodies, public spaces, and streets. Slogans echoing the spirit of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan were chanted throughout the walk, energizing the participants and drawing attention from the public.
Local residents warmly welcomed the initiative, with many joining the walk and expressing their appreciation for the Municipal Council’s continuous efforts toward sanitation and hygiene.
The initiative was recognized as a vital step in fostering a culture of cleanliness and civic pride in the community.
Speaking on the occasion, Executive Officer of the Municipality emphasized the importance of sustainable cleanliness practices and encouraged citizens to adopt cleanliness as a way of life rather than just a campaign. They also highlighted the significance of public participation in realizing the vision of a clean and green Anantnag.
‘Swachhta Darshan’ programme is a part of government’s broader strategy to enhance urban sanitation and instill a sense of ownership and pride among citizens, aligning with the national mission of ‘Mera Shehar Meri Pehchaan.’
