Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested a lady drug peddler and also recovered a substantial quantity of contraband substances from her possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party of from Police Station Qaimoh at a checkpoint established at Sofigund, noticed a lady attempting to flee the scene identified as Manto Hussain R/o Malda Calcutta A/P Sofigund following which she was arrested and shifted to police station where she remains in custody. Stating that during search, 7 grams of Brown Sugar, 2 kgs of Poppy Straw and cash amount of ₹10,000/- pertains to the proceeds of narcotics was recovered from the possession of the said accused Police in its statement further said that a case under FIR No. 37/2025 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Qaimoh besides initiating further initiating further investigation.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement Police appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs from the society, reiterating therein its commitment to act tough against the criminals as per law.
