Jammu|May,30 : Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who is on a two-day trip to the Jammu region, is scheduled to meet affected families of cross-border firing and interact with the troops of Border Security Force on Friday in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Home Minister, who left from Jammu for Poonch in the morning, will be addressing civilians affected by Pakistani shelling at Dak Bungalow in Poonch and later meet BSF jawans at Khanetar- based unit headquarters. Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha is also accompanying the Union Minister. Shah will also visit damaged religious places, including Singh Sabha Gurdwara and hold a meeting with officers to assess the damage in the worst-hit district, official sources said.
The Union Home Minister arrived here on Thursday evening and reached the Raj Bhawan wherein he chaired a security review meeting with the top brass of the Army, paramilitary forces, intelligence agencies and administration. This is Shah’s first visit to the Union Territory post Operation Sindoor. “Chaired a review meeting for the Amarnath pilgrimage and evaluated the security arrangements and preparedness meant for the pilgrims,” Shah said in a post on X. He said, “Instructed to ensure utmost vigilance and ensure the seamless completion of the sacred journey.” “The Central government and J&K administration will leave no stone unturned to facilitate the pilgrims with all necessary facilities,” he said.Shah is also expected to distribute appointment letters among the next of kin of civilians killed in the shelling in Poonch.
