Ganderbal: To assess and reinforce the district’s anti-narcotics efforts, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Jatin Kishore on Wednesday chaired the monthly meeting of the District-Level Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) at the V.C. Room of Mini Secretariat Ganderbal.
During the meeting, DC reviewed the Action Taken Report on directives issued in the previous NCORD meeting. Emphasizing the need for a more aggressive and collaborative approach, he called for enhanced strategies focusing on prevention, surveillance, and community engagement.
Key directives were issued to various departments, including the enforcement of computerized billing systems in medical establishments, installation of CCTV cameras, strict action against drug peddlers, and the intensification of awareness campaigns to curb drug abuse.
DC also reviewed the awareness initiatives conducted under the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir campaign. He instructed the concerned departments to expand their outreach by organizing awareness drives, sports events, and creative programs, particularly targeting vulnerable sections of society.
While addressing the officers, DC stressed that all decisions made during the meeting must be implemented in letter and spirit. He urged for seamless inter-departmental coordination to achieve the shared goal of a drug-free Ganderbal.
The meeting was attended by the Chief Planning Officer, Chief Education Officer, Chief Agriculture Officer, Chief Medical Officer, District Social Welfare Officer, District Officer Youth Services and Sorts, Tehsildars, Block Development Officers, and representatives from the Police, Excise Department, Intelligence Bureau, and other concerned departments.
