DLSA G’bal conducts awareness program on POSH Act, 2013

Ganderbal: District Legal Services Authority, (DLSA) Ganderbal, in collaboration with the Tehsil Administration, Gund, successfully conducted a legal awareness program on the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013, at Gund.
The program aimed to educate participants about the prevention, prohibition, and redressal mechanisms available to women facing workplace harassment. It also sought to raise awareness among employees and employers about their rights and responsibilities, legal mechanisms to report harassment, and legal protections for victims of sexual harassment.
Program included a workshop for Internal Complaints Committees (ICC) and Local Complaints Committees (LCC) to sensitize them on their duties under the PoSH Act. Participants were informed about the importance of creating a safe and respectful work environment, free from harassment and discrimination.
Block Development Officer (BDO) Gund, delivered a comprehensive awareness program on the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 (POSH Act) and made the participants aware about the importance of creating a safe and respectful work environment, free from sexual harassment.
Assistant LADCs of Ganderbal, introduced the participants to the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013. They elaborated on key aspects, including, definition of ‘workplace’ under the Act, forms of behavior that constitute ‘sexual harassment’ and scope and applicability of the POSH Act.
They also underscored the importance of Internal Complaints Committees (ICCs) in workplaces, stressing the legal requirement for employers to constitute ICCs through a written order, ensuring that workplaces with multiple locations or divisions have appropriate committees in place to address complaints of sexual harassment.
As part of the day-long program, DLSA Ganderbal disseminated IEC material of NALSA’s Handbook on the POSH Act titled SPEAK-UP to the participants and Adhikar Mitras (PLVs) for dissemination to their respective areas. This handbook was designed to educate & inform the women in general and working women in particular about the rights, remedies, and procedures under the Act, empowering them to create a safe and respectful work environment.
The program witnessed active participation from officials, employees, and representatives from various organizations.
The event was attended by Tehsildar Gund, faculty members from various schools, officials from the Social Welfare Office Kangan/Gund, Child Development Project Office (CDPO) Kangan/Gund, LADCS, Adhikar Kitras (PLVs), officials of revenue Department, Lambardars/ Chowkidars, students, and representatives from other departments.
