DC Srinagar reviews preparations for auspicious festivities of Eid-ul-Azha

DC directs seamless arrangements on the occasion, Constitutes Spl Teams to Check Quality of Food Items, Curb Profiteering and Black Marketing

Srinagar: In connection with celebrations of upcoming Eid-ul-Azha festivities in the District, a meeting of all Sectoral/Zonal Officers was on Wednesday held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat at Meeting Hall of DC Office Complex, here to review the preparations made by different Departments for seamless conduct of the auspicious religious festival.
Besides, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Aadil Fareed, Superintendent of Police, Umar Shah and Assistant Commissioner Revenue Umar Gulzar, the meeting was attended by Superintending Engineers of PHE, KPDCL, R&B, all Tehsildars, Officers of Food Safety, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, FCS&CA, SMC, Fire & Emergency, Legal Metrology, and other Departments.
At the outset, DC reviewed the facilities regarding the basic amenities of line Departments at the important religious places including Masjids and Shrines where huge congregations of devotees are expected to offer prayers. The DC stressed on ensuring all the required arrangements up to the best satisfaction of the visiting devotees.
While reviewing the availability of sacrificial animals and poultry birds in the District, the DC directed concerned Officers of Animal Husbandry and Sheep Husbandry to ensure availability of sufficient quantities of animals and poultry birds to cater to the local demand on the religious occasion.
Regarding the proper and scientific disposal of hides, he directed SMC Officers to publicize the collection centers of hides in every Municipal Ward of the Srinagar City and adequate deployment of vehicles for collection of fleeces.
To address the issue of dog menace at prime Religious Places, DC directed SMC to conduct dog catching drives to ensure safety of devotees and cleanliness of surrounding areas. The SMC authorities were also directed to take appropriate measures for ensuring proper sanitation measures across the City, besides making all street lights functional at the earliest.
To ensure availability of good quality of food items and to curb malpractice of overcharging and overpricing in the market, the DC directed for constituting joint market checking teams of Police, Food Safety, Legal Metrology, Sheep Husbandry and Tehsildars. The DC constituted special teams for market checking in order to prevent profiteering and black marketing by business establishments operating in the District.
The DC also stressed the officers from PHE and KPDCL to provide uninterrupted supply of drinking water and electricity to the consumers especially at Shrines and Masjids on the eve of the Eid Ul Azha.
Similarly, the Health Department was instructed to ensure availability of ambulances and medical staff at Dargah Hazratbal Shrine and other places.
Likewise, R&B and SMC Engineers were directed to repair roads and fill up all the potholes, particularly approach roads of prominent religious places.
Regarding Traffic Management to facilitate people to offer congregational prayers on time, the DC asked Traffic authorities Srinagar to formulate an efficient traffic plan and publicize that for the information of the general public.
Moreover, authorities of the Regional Transport Office were asked to provide an adequate number of buses to ferry people to Dargah Hazratbal and other prominent Masjids on the eve of Eid Ul Azha.
Similarly, Assistant Commissioner Development was asked to mobilize field functionaries in all rural areas to ensure better arrangements on the Eid-Ul Azha.
During the meeting, the DC listened to the demands of the Administrators of various prominent Shrines with regard to the arrangements of Eid Ul Azha.
