Claiming credit for exemplary performances of some toppers of 10th, 11th and 12th classes the result of which were recently announced by the Jammu & Kashmir Board Of School Education (J&K BOSE) some private schools stand exposed for their deeper nexus with some coaching centres in Kashmir Valley. In the recently announced 11th class results Crescent Public School, Srinagar celebrated exceptional academic success of some toppers which along with other students were allowed by it to skip classes at the school and instead pursue coaching at Allen Coaching Centre Nowgam in the school working hours. Both the students and the parents are aware of the fact that students are asked by the Allen Coaching Centre to take admissions only at Crescent Public School just to avail the opportunity of skipping classes for attending coaching classes at the coaching centre in the day time. As a result of this hidden academic arrangement the students got the attendance recorded at the Crescent Public School without attending the classes for appearing in the BOSE exam at the end of the academic year and pursue coaching at the Allen Coaching Centre Nowgam Srinagar in the day time. Morality demands that both the Crescent Public School and as well as the Allen Coaching Centre are held accountable for the unholy nexus they have developed for spoiling the basic patterns of both the schooling in schools and as well as coaching at the coaching centres in connivance with each other. Taking admissions in selected private schools on the recommendations of coaching centres just to get attendance required for appearing in final exams of J&K BOSE without attending the classes and pursue coaching at the coaching centres in the day time during school working hours is the new trend of nexus developed by the private schools in connivance with the coaching centres across Kashmir more so in Srinagar City.
“For all practical purposes the onus of breaking deepening unholy nexus between the private schools and the coaching centres lies equally both on the Directorate of School Education Kashmir and the top authorities of J&K Board Of School Education (J&K BOSE). Finally a single direction for a high level probe from the Education Minister can break the nexus and establish transparency and accountability in both the private schools and as well as coaching centres.”
Experiences of recent years show that this hidden nexus between the private schools and coaching centres is a bad trend going unnoticed, unchecked and un-regulated. In the process this unholy nexus spoils the careers of thousands of students as only few toppers for whose exemplary success certain private schools and coaching centre claim credit excel only because of their own hard work and better preparatory schedule ahead of the annual examinations.
