2 drug peddlers arrested in Pulwama, Kupwara; Contraband substance recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Pulwama and Kupwara, and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party from Police Station Rajpora during naka checking near Argecheck intercepted a suspect identified as Javaid Ahmad Mir S/o Mohd Akbar Mir R/o Pakherpora and during his personal search recovered 60 grams charas, from his possession following which the said accused wa arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that in a similar action in Kupwara also a police party of Police Station Kupwara at a checkpoint established at Main Tikker Kupwara intercepted a suspect identified as Danish Ahmad Shiekh S/o Mohd Yousf Shiekh R/o Tikker Kupwara and during search, a substantial amount of Heroine-like substance was recovered from his possession Police in its statement further said that the said accused was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody besides which cases under relevant sections of law were registered at respective police stations and further investigation are as such underway.
In the concluding para of its above quoted statement police reiterated its commitment to eradicate drug abuse and appealed people to support law enforcement by reporting any drug-related activities.
