Ramban: The District Administration Ramban, under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary, on Monday organized extensive Information, Education and Communication (IEC) campaign across all 11 blocks and the Municipal Council Ramban to promote Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan and Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan.
A key highlight of the campaign was the event held at Dak Bungalow Ramban, where local MLA Arjun Singh Raju led the Nasha Mukt Bharat initiative. The programme witnessed the presence of EO Municipal Council Sudershan Jamwal, alongside several government officials, civil society members, and enthusiastic students.
District Health Officer Dr. Mohammad Iqbal and other resource persons delivered insightful lectures on the repercussions of drug abuse, on individuals and society as a whole.
Mass awareness programs were also organized across multiple panchayats including Trigam Upper, Sujmatna-B, Rajgrah, Gool Parthmullah, Dharam B, Thather Lower, Famrote, Karma, Kangha, Sildhar, and Sena Bhatti-B. These events witnessed active participation from students, teachers and officials from Health, Police, Social Welfare, and Information Department, reinforcing a collective stand against substance abuse.
At Panchayat Gool Parthmullah, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Imtiaz Ahmed presided over the programme, sensitizing the public about the disastrous consequences of drug addiction.
Throughout the campaigns, Health Department experts elaborated on the devastating health impacts of drug use, while representatives from the Jammu and Kashmir Police and Excise Department discussed legal ramifications and enforcement strategies. Social Welfare officials highlighted available government helplines and rehabilitation initiatives to support affected individuals and their families.
All programmes concluded with mass pledges of commitment, as participants vowed to protect youth and the society from the drug menace, reaffirming their dedication to building a drug-free, healthy, and prosperous Ramban.
